Excellent Replacement for Hi-Low-beam Switch on 1990 Wrangler YJ Steering Column
Successfully replaced the broken headlight hi-low selector switch on my 1990 Jeep Wrangler YJ with this Omix-Ada 17233.04 part. Works great. I wasn't looking forward to "feeling my way" to this part, way down deep on my steering column, behind the dash, but it wasn't s difficult as first feared. I'm sure it didn't hurt that my steering wheel was already removed, as I'd just completed repairing my loose tilt wheel mechanism (*that* repair was decidedly more complex! ;-). Though I found a few on-line videos of folks swearing as they fought to attempt a dimmer switch replacement, I didn't find any one source that showed how to successfully accomplish this basic repair -- probably because, once you locate the old part and illuminate it with portable lighting, the repair, while not difficult to perform, is not easily shown on-camera. Be prepared with low-clearance sockets and/or open end wrenches for the 5/16-inch forward bolt (higher on the column -- close to the dash) and the 3/8-inch rear nut-on-stud (lower on the column, toward the vehicle firewall). ...and don't forget to tape the actuator rod to the steering column, before you remove the old switch, so it doesn't slip out-of-place!
